My egg creations are made of blended colored polymer clay, the designs are not painted but in the substance of the clay. I drape clay layers over a clean empty shell, gently stretching, smoothing, twisting, or slicing through layers, allowing the form to unfold. Sometimes i use integrated "cane" designs blended or on the layers of clay. I then may add a base stand, and other details and embellishments. Sometimes a design develops over time, even taking years until i feel it is complete. Then I bake it, sand it, and seal it with a special heat and moisture resistant glaze. They are quite durable and can be cleaned with gentle soap, after being lovely stroked and experienced. Each Egg Creation, whether one from my collection or one co-designed by request, is one-of-a-kind, and meant to be enjoyed for many years. | ||

I am a polymer clay artist and my business is called ??????. I can be reached at iambasquecat@yahoo.com or you can call or text 1-408-697-3803.

As a single Mother of two, I went back to school. My major was Psychology, with an special interest in Gerontology. As a stress reliever from academia, I took ceramic classes. I gravitated to hand building with coils and slabs, because the wheel was too controlled for me. Through the process of hand building, I found that if I surrendered my control , things would unfold naturally. I really came to enjoy the evolution, that the clay and I went through together. I learned to listen to the clay..
When my Mother needed my care, I didn't have the time to go to a studio. This is when I found the medium of polymer clay. It was portable, and could be fired in an oven. I loved all the colors I could blend, and best of all, I could create next to my Moms bedside. She helped me soften the clay, choose colors, and encouraged me along the way. I made beads, covered pens, and small sculptures, but it is the fragile egg I enjoyed dressing the best.
Last year, I was given the opportunity to reflect on my past, think of the future, and live in the present. I realized mud pies, crayons, paints, draping fabrics, and my clay creations were all part of my evolution. This year, I have decided to put My Art out to the Universe.
I will be forever grateful to my loving Parents and Grandmother, who always watched and encouraged me to follow my own path and passions.
I believe, if you carefully watch a child at play, you can see their true passions. My favorite activities were coloring, painting, and making mud pies. As a young girl I made doll clothes by hand. By the time I was 15 years old, my Maternal Grandmother had passed her skills of European Tailoring and Dressmaking down to me.
As a young Adult, I pursued a degree in Psychology. A few years later, married and moved to Chicago. While there, my friend and mentor Mrs. Wiley encouraged me to apply to The Art Institute of Chicago, and I was accepted. It was so inspiring to walk the Halls of Great Works of Art. It was heaven on earth.
